Jen & David Beaudoin with baby Alexandre (Zan) Knox Beaudion, Vernon, BC
Hi Christy!
I wanted to let you know that David and I are blessed with a little baby boy! His name is Alexandre Knox Beaudoin.
Alexandre was born on the Spring Equinox, (hence his middle name), March 20th at 5:45 am. The sun was rising and the birds were singing. Being at home was the best way to have the birth I imagined. The whole experience was truly amazing!

My labor started at 11 pm, with steady surges, but I wasn't sure if I was in real labour because I was able to breath through them with such ease. I downloaded an app for my phone and I spent the next 2 hours lying in bed timing out the surges and they lasted 50 sec 5 min apart and remained that way until I woke David around 1 am. I started to feel a bit nauseous and the surges were getting stronger. I finally gave Dave the OK to call the midwife after I vomited! This was the sign that told me this was for real!
By the time our midwife arrived to our place it was 3:15 am. She quickly checked my cervix and to my surprise I was already 9 cm open! David was scrambling to fill the kiddie pool with hot water, (which we ran out of), half awake and not fully realizing that I was ready to push! Our doula Lani arrived shortly before I went back into bed to push the baby down the birth path. During that time, I felt very comfortable, and totally in control. I had the loving support I needed. I was able to birth our baby with no pain, no injury and feeling energized. I did this with extreme focus and trusting my body while breathing through the surges. Our baby was born after 7 hours of labour. It was the most beautiful experience of my life!
I wanted to thank you again for passing on your knowledge. It has really helped me with my birth experience, and even beyond that... I feel these tools are applicable to many aspects of life.
You have many gifts that you share so well!
One happy mama, Jen
